Taxi Driver Jailed for Rape and Theft in Bradford

Asad Khan, 55, of John Street Clayton, has been sentenced to 9 years and 6 months at Bradford Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to rape and theft following a shocking attack on New Year’s Day 2022.

Abused Trust of Vulnerable Passenger

The horrific incident took place in the early hours of 1 January 2022. Khan, who worked as a taxi driver, exploited his position of trust to assault a vulnerable passenger.

Life on Sex Offenders Register and Restraining Order

Alongside his prison sentence, Khan must sign the sex offenders register for life. He has also been slapped with a sexual harm prevention order to protect the public.

Detective Constable Rianne Woodham of Bradford District’s Safeguarding team said:

“Khan had abused his position of trust as a taxi driver and took advantage of a vulnerable passenger.

I would like to praise the courage and bravery of the victim for reporting this crime. I hope the sentence today gives her some closure and justice.

Victims can be assured that specialist officers will always listen and fully investigate any reports of sexual offending and we continue to urge victims to come forward.”
