Serial Shoplifter Nabbed in Kent After £800 Theft Spree
Kent Police cracked down on a series of shop thefts across Rochester, Holborough, and Strood that rattled local stores between 9 September and 2 October 2023.
Targets Included Wilkinsons, Tesco, and Co-op
The stolen goods ranged from laundry products and food to booze, with the total haul topping £800. Police investigators from the Medway Victim Based Crime Team zeroed in on Nathan Aldous, a 36-year-old with no fixed address, as the mastermind behind the crime spree.
Thief Caught, Charged and Jailed
Aldous was arrested on 14 October and slapped with 11 counts of theft, one attempted theft, assaults on a shop employee, and six breaches of a criminal behaviour order (CBO). At Medway Magistrates’ Court on 6 October, he pleaded guilty to all charges and was locked up for 42 weeks.
“Aldous was already subject to a criminal behaviour order when he committed these offences, which shows his complete contempt for the law,” said investigating officer PC Emily Groves. “He showed no regard for the impact on businesses, which ultimately causes price hikes for honest shoppers. It’s right he’s now behind bars.”
