Graffiti Vandals Busted in Early Morning Raid
kent-police/">Kent Police swooped on an underpass on St George’s Street at 3am last Wednesday after CCTV cameras caught a gang spraying graffiti and causing damage.
Two Men Arrested – One Nabbed with Cocaine
Officers arrested two men in their twenties. A 22-year-old from Canterbury also faces a drugs charge after cocaine was found. Both men were released on bail as investigations continue, with property searches underway.
Council Furious at Costly Vandalism
Inspector Guy Thompson said: “Graffiti blights communities. It not only increases the fear of crime but costs councils and property owners a great deal of money to remove. We will not hesitate in taking action against those who damage property in our neighbourhood.”
Lead councillor Ashley Clark added: “Kudos to our quick-thinking CCTV team who spotted the culprits at 2.50am and called in the police, leading to swift arrests. This shows how we’re cracking down on crime together.”
“Our graffiti cleaning team worked hard the same day – wasting taxpayers’ cash that could be better spent improving life for all residents. It’s frustrating we have to clean up this pointless vandalism. Once again this incident proves just how vital CCTV is in fighting crime.”
