Shameless Conman Jailed for Ripping Off Young Men

Career conman Paolo Aldorasi, 39, has been locked up for nearly three years after duping young men into handing over thousands in cold, hard cash. The London-based fraudster preyed on vulnerable victims, often South East Asian newcomers, with the same slick scam across the capital and beyond.

Fraudster Posed as Italian Fashion Designer

Aldorasi targeted his victims on the street, charming them by claiming to be an Italian fashion designer. He’d invite them into his posh car, gift them clothes, then spin a sob story about gambling away his cash and needing an urgent loan to pay airport car rental fees.

He’d pressure and harass bewildered young men, often too scared or naïve to refuse. They would withdraw huge sums—sometimes up to £8,000—from ATMs, handing Aldorasi the money before he vanished without a trace.

Three Police Forces Team Up to Nab Con

A joint investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service, Thames Valley Police, and West Midlands Police uncovered Aldorasi’s trail of deceit spanning London, Coventry, and Oxford from June 2020 to November 2021.

Detective Constable Christine Metz slammed Aldorasi as a “career criminal” who left victims feeling “ashamed, cynical, and distrustful.” She revealed many were too embarrassed to even tell their families, with their confidence shattered.

15 Fraud Counts and £34,000 Stolen

Aldorasi pleaded guilty to 15 counts of fraud by false representation at Southwark Crown Court. Thanks to his early guilty plea, the judge sentenced him to two years and nine months behind bars but did not pull any punches describing him as “shameless” and a ruthless confidence trickster.

The crook’s brazen tactics escalated over time, from simply having victims withdraw cash while he waited in the car, to watching over their shoulders at the machine. In one brazen CCTV-caught rip-off, he made a victim withdraw double the requested £250—pocketing £500 before speeding off.

All told, Aldorasi made off with nearly £34,000. Police gathered piles of evidence including witness statements, CCTV footage, and the very clothes used to fool the victims, sealing his fate.

Justice served for the young men left humiliated and hurt by Aldorasi’s ruthless swindle.
