West Yorkshire Drug Kingpin Hit with £204k Confiscation Order
Derrick Woods, 41, from Blakeridge Mills, Batley, has been slapped with a £203,940.73 confiscation order by Leeds Crown Court after a lengthy criminal career.
15 Years of Drug Crimes Catch Up
Woods’ drug trafficking saga dates back to 2005 when he got five years in prison. Then, in 2010, he was slammed with a 10-year sentence for more drug offences. Released in 2016, he was caught again in 2019 handing over drugs in a Leeds car park.
- Police seized large quantities of ecstasy and amphetamine paste from his flat and vehicles.
- Officers also found a hefty £95,000 in cash stashed in a carrier bag.
- In 2020, Woods was locked up for 14 years following his latest conviction.
Prison Time and a Price Tag
Now, the Regional Economic Crime Unit (RECU) has served Woods with a Proceeds of Crime Act order for just over £200k. He must pay it off within three months—fail that and he faces an extra 18 months behind bars.
“Woods was at the heart of a large-scale drug trafficking enterprise across West Yorkshire,” said DET Inspector Mick Ryan. “Today’s confiscation order ensures he does not financially benefit from his criminal activities.”
