Cop Jailed for Stalking Ex-Lover on Duty

PC Jonathan Simon, attached to London’s East Area Command Unit, was found guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after a two-day trial this Friday, 17 March. The disgraced officer will be sentenced on Tuesday, 4 April.

Twisted Romance Turns Into Harassment Campaign

Simon’s nightmare began when he met a woman on duty in May 2021. They started a relationship, but she later ended it. Instead of accepting the breakup, PC Simon turned creepy.

Between October 2021 and July 2022, he repeatedly showed up at her home—sometimes while still on duty—just to pester her. He bombarded her with messages and voicemails, ignoring her clear requests to stop.

In one bold move, he even visited her workplace, trying to get her attention by claiming her window was left open. The victim was left shaken and stressed by his relentless behaviour.

Met Police Take Action: Officer Suspended, Misconduct Pending

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards stepped in and notified the Independent Office for Police Conduct. PC Simon remains suspended from duty while misconduct proceedings are fast-tracked.

Boss Slams Simon’s Abuse of Power

Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell said: “PC Simon’s behaviour was unwarranted, unwanted and caused significant concern to the victim. Our officers cannot behave like this and we will be proactive in identifying and taking positive action against those who do. Despite being repeatedly asked to stop he subjected the victim to a campaign of harassment which caused her considerable distress. He abused his position as a police officer and has now rightly been convicted as a result.”
