Dealer Nabbed with Guns and Drugs in Southampton Street Crackdown
Ebrahim Maroof, 20, from Oxford Avenue, Southampton, has been locked up for nearly five years after cops caught him red-handed in a street stop.
Stop and Search Snags Imitation Gun and Class A Drugs
On 15 February 2019, police from the Southampton Central Neighbourhood Team stopped Maroof in St Matthews Close. A search revealed an imitation firearm tucked into his waistband along with heroin, cocaine, and cannabis.
Court Finds Maroof Guilty of Multiple Drug Offences
After a two-day trial at Southampton Crown Court in October, Maroof was convicted of two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and carrying an imitation firearm in public. He had earlier pleaded guilty to possession of Class B drug cannabis.
Nearly Five Years Behind Bars
On 3 November, Maroof was sentenced to 4 years and 10 months in prison.
Inspector Steve Goodier said: “This was an excellent result following a successful stop and search by officers from the Southampton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, who were out patrolling the St Matthews Close area.
“Where there are drugs, there is almost always violence and associated crime. Where we deal with violence, especially involving weapons, we often find drugs at the same time.
“We continue to do everything we can to tackle drugs and associated crime to keep our communities safe.”
