Southampton Predator Locked Up for Over Six Years
Bradley Herring Jailed for Rape and Sexual Assault
Bradley Herring, 30, from Bracklesham Close, Southampton, was sentenced to six years and two months in prison at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, March 24.
Herring pleaded guilty to multiple offences, including rape and two counts of sexual assault.
Gruesome Attacks in Southampton
On January 22, Herring raped a woman in her 20s at a separate location in the east of Southampton.
Earlier, on January 1 last year, he sexually assaulted a teenage girl at another address in the same area.
Justice Served with Tough Restrictions
Since the attacks were reported, specialist officers have provided support to both women. Herring was slapped with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, meaning strict rules await him after release. He must also register as a sex offender for life or risk returning to prison.
Officers Praise Courage of Victims
Detective Constable Marie Leather from Operation Amberstone, who led the rape investigation, and DC Daisy Green from Southampton Investigations, who handled the assaults, commented:
“Firstly, we would like to praise both women for the bravery they have shown by coming forward and reporting these horrific crimes to us, and during the investigation and court process.
“Herring is a sexual predator, and now he is locked up, he cannot harm another woman.
“Our teams work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice, and I hope this result encourages other victims, no matter when the incidents happened, to speak to us.
“You will be listened to, respected, and supported by us.”
