Stalker Jailed After Terrorising Woman with Car and Home Break-In
Thomas McGuigan, 32, has been locked up for a year at Nottingham Crown Court for a shocking campaign of stalking and intimidation against a woman over several months.
Car Used as Weapon in Brutal Harassment
Between August and November last year, McGuigan repeatedly used his car to scare his victim. On one occasion, he rammed her hedge twice with his vehicle. He also menacingly crossed the road, making the woman fear he was driving straight at her while she was behind the wheel in Clifton.
Home Invasion and Threats
McGuigan didn’t stop there. In August, he broke into the woman’s house through a window and only fled when disturbed. He also threatened to damage her car, even boasting on Facebook about plans to deflate her tyres.
Justice Served with Jail Time, Restraining Order, and Driving Ban
The nightmare came to an end in April when McGuigan pleaded guilty to stalking, two counts of dangerous driving, and threatening to destroy property. He received a 12-month prison sentence, a five-year restraining order, and a 12-month driving ban.
“I’d like to commend this victim for her bravery throughout the ordeal McGuigan subjected her to. I hope it brings her some comfort that he is now behind bars,” said Police Constable Sian Gray-Finch, Nottinghamshire Police.
“Keeping women safe and supporting victims of this kind of appalling behaviour are priorities for the force. We treat reports of this nature incredibly seriously and will always do our very best to investigate and seek justice for them.”
Nottinghamshire Police urge anyone suffering harassment, or their family and friends, to report it immediately. Help and support are available for all victims.
