Pervert Gropes Girl in Shop – Caught on CCTV

Abdul Gani, 32, from Everton, targeted a young girl in Jim’s News on Fountains Road, Kirkdale. The victim, just nine years old and with her cousin, was picking out crisps when Gani brazenly grabbed her bottom. He even winked at her after the first assault, prosecutors revealed.

Caught on Camera – Girl Flees Before Telling Uncle

Prosecutor Olivia Beesley told Liverpool Crown Court that after paying for her snacks, the girl walked past Gani — who groped her again. Terrified, she ran out but came back for her cousin, unaware of the vile attack. Back home, she told her uncle, who demanded to see shop CCTV.

Shop staff identified Gani — who did not work there — and the police were called. He was later found unconscious outside his home after being assaulted himself.

Gani Denies Charges but Convicted Anyway

  • From Sudan, Gani claimed he was home with friends during attack.
  • Denied being on CCTV footage from the shop.
  • Convicted of sexually assaulting a child by touching at magistrates court.
  • Case sent to Liverpool Crown Court due to seriousness.

Refuses to Engage – Jailed in Absence

On trial day, Gani refused to leave his cell or appear by video link. He also fired his lawyer and refused to cooperate with probation services. Judge Stuart Driver QC sentenced him without him present.

“I’ve concluded that he’s a dangerous criminal who poses a high risk of causing harm to children and committing further sexual offences,” said the judge.

Gani was jailed for 10 months and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. He also received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining order, both lasting a decade. The judge noted the case’s severity, the victim’s trauma, and the presence of her young cousin during the assault.
