Thief nabbed for using stolen bank card and carrying bolt croppers

Chancer caught using stolen card in Minster

Mark Scamp, 37, is in hot water after being charged with using a bank card that wasn’t his. The card was used in a shop in Minster, near Ramsgate, on 14 July 2023. The card had been nicked from a car in Aylesham earlier the same day.

Also charged over bike theft near Canterbury

Scamp faces a separate charge linked to a bike theft in Canterbury. The incident happened near Sturry Road on the afternoon of 26 April 2023. He was found in possession of bolt croppers, tools often used for thefts.

Court appearance and custody

The Canterbury resident, from Dickens Avenue, appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 9 August. He was denied bail and remanded in custody. Scamp is set to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date yet to be fixed.
