Man, 71, Found Dead in Chatham – Murder Charge Made
Police Called to Mercury Close
Kent Police responded to a call on Tuesday 5 September 2023 at a home on Mercury Close. Officers arrived to find a 71-year-old man deceased at the scene.
Murder Investigation Launched
Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate quickly opened an investigation. By the same day, a man was arrested in connection with the death.
Suspect Charged and Remanded
On the evening of Wednesday 6 September, the Crown Prosecution Service charged 27-year-old Simon Brown, from King George Road, Chatham, with murder.
Brown was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court the following day.
