Sussex Cop Paul Elrick Slapped with Final Warning over Inappropriate Conduct
Paul Elrick, 48, a detective based in Hastings, faced a grilling at Sussex Police HQ in Lewes on Tuesday (24 November) after being accused of sending inappropriate messages and touching a colleague without consent.
Misconduct Panel Finds Elrick Guilty
The hearing, overseen by an independent, legally-qualified chairman, found the claims against Elrick to be true. He was handed a final written warning, marking a serious black mark on his record.
Police Boss Issues Stern Reminder
Detective Superintendent Lisa Bell, who heads the force’s professional standards unit, slammed the behaviour. She said:
“We work very hard to ensure that anyone who works for Sussex Police or who we deal with on a daily basis is treated with respect, understanding and consideration for their feelings and beliefs. This outcome serves as an important reminder to our officers and staff about the high standards we expect and look to maintain.”
With this warning, Sussex Police are sending a clear message: inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated — no matter who you are.
