Syrian Migrant on Trial for Raping 8-Year-Old Stepdaughter Claims She Seduced Him
Chilling Trial Unfolds in Belgium
A Syrian man accused of raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter in Belgium shocked the courtroom by claiming it was the first time he had ever drunk alcohol and that the child seduced him. The horrific abuse allegedly took place between January and March 2021 at their home in Doische, according to Dinant criminal court.
Pregnancy Exposes Horrific Crime
The young victim became pregnant, forcing authorities to launch an investigation. Initially, she tried to protect her abuser by blaming a 16-year-old friend. DNA tests confirmed the embryo belonged to the stepfather, leading to his arrest in September 2021. The child underwent a voluntary abortion at just eight weeks pregnant.
“We examined the embryo’s DNA. They matched the DNA of the stepfather,” officials revealed.
Bizarre Defence Claims
After his arrest, the accused bizarrely justified the rape, saying, “It was the first time I drank, and I didn’t know how to control myself.” He also bizarrely claimed the girl “thinks she’s older” and seduced him by climbing onto his lap and kissing him.
The defence even attempted to downplay the crime by citing Syrian law, where girls can marry as young as 13, mirroring excuses used in other migrant sex abuse trials across Europe.
“He wishes to conform to our laws and to the Belgian manner,” lawyers argued.
Prosecution Demands Tough Sentence
Prosecutors have called for a minimum 10-year prison sentence. The court is set to deliver its verdict on July 13.
