Crime Squad Slams High-Harm Criminals Behind Bars for 91 Years
The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad dealt a major blow to serious offenders, locking up high-harm criminals for a staggering total of 91 years and six months in March 2022 alone.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys, head of the Crime Squad, hailed March’s results as “an astounding testament to my team’s expertise” and said the work ensures victims get the justice they deserve.
“Our team is unique. We handle cases from the moment a crime happens right through to the courtroom,” said DCI Talboys. “With plain-clothed officers on patrol, expert detectives, and analysts tracking crime trends live, we catch offenders when they least expect it.”
Knife-Point Robbery Foiled After Heavily Planned Crime
Two men behind a botched knife-point robbery at a Rochester business were caught and jailed for seven years between them. The terrifying crime saw a woman threatened in front of young children.
Thanks to a massive evidence haul—ANPR cameras, CCTV, mobile data and eyewitness testimony—the Crime Squad pinned down the criminals and arrested them during home raids.
Burglar Gang and Armed Robbers Get Heavy Sentences
- Three burglars who assaulted and held hostage an elderly woman in Swanscombe jailed for 16 years total
- Sheerness man handed seven years for a string of home robberies on the Isle of Sheppey
- Knife-point robber in Gillingham locked up for over four years
- Two-year sentence for thief stealing a pricey statue in Ashford
- Car key burglar in Deal sentenced to 20 months for vehicle theft
Ongoing Crackdowns: Multiple Charges Filed
The Crime Squad also advanced several investigations now heading to court, including:
- Gravesend man charged with 46 theft offences, mainly burglaries in the Riverview Park estate
- Three men charged with six burglaries each across Sevenoaks, Dartford, Loughton and Bexley
- One man charged with conspiracy to steal related to 11 burglaries spanning Whitstable, Faversham, Herne Bay, Aylesham and Ash
All suspects have been remanded in custody as they await trial dates, with the Crime Squad committed to making communities safer one conviction at a time.
