Relentless Abuse Over 13 Months

Fleeing from Police After 999 Call

On 21 February 2022, the victim dialled 999 after a day of intimidation. When officers arrived at her house, Knowles bolted into the back garden, trying to escape arrest. Despite a struggle, police caught him.

Evidence Reveals Threats and Controlling Behaviour

The investigation uncovered chilling threats to kill the victim. She had kept photos documenting her injuries. Knowles, who has no fixed address, faced charges of coercive and controlling behaviour and obstructing police.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty and was sentenced on 15 July 2022 to two years and nine months behind bars, including five months for breaching a previous suspended sentence.

“Knowles is a violent bully who terrorised his victim for over a year. She showed great courage in contacting police,” said Detective Inspector Gemma Pawley of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team. “It is right he now serves time for his crimes.”
