Brutal Abuse: Ryan Dungey Jailed for Choking Girlfriend Unconscious
Ryan Dungey, 29, from Gillingham, has been locked up for 21 months after subjecting his victim to horrific physical, mental, and emotional abuse. The terrifying ordeal unfolded between November 2018 and July 2019.
Disgusting Assaults and Cruel Taunts
Dungey’s abuse was savage. He slapped his victim, smashed her make-up and mirror, hurled plates at her, and kicked her in the stomach. The violence escalated to pushing her down the stairs and strangling her so brutally she lost consciousness.
He also targeted her mind, constantly telling her “nobody liked her” and that she “should die.”
Justice Served After Courageous Complaint
The victim reported the torment to Kent Police on 31 July 2019. Dungey was arrested the next day and later pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour.
On 3 September 2020, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced him to nearly two years behind bars.
“Dungey subjected his victim to the most appalling physical, mental and emotional abuse,” said investigating officer PC Michael Kiernan.
“I would like to commend the victim for having the courage to come forward and also reassure anyone who may be in an abusive relationship that we have a dedicated team who can provide them support and pursue justice.”
