Teen Stabs Man Six Times Outside London Shop

A brutal stabbing erupted just after midnight on Saturday, 28 August 2021, outside a Costcutter on Northdown Road. Karamvir Dhadda, 19, was out shopping with a friend when a fight broke out involving another man.

Armed with what’s believed to be a screwdriver, Dhadda plunged the weapon into the victim six times. A quick-thinking member of the public stepped in, giving the victim a chance to escape to safety.

Police Nab Dhadda From CCTV Footage

Police identified Dhadda from CCTV footage and arrested him at his southeast London home on Tuesday, 7 September. The 19-year-old, from Doebury Walk, faced charges of possession of an offensive weapon and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Dhadda pleaded guilty to both charges ahead of his sentencing at Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday, 8 February 2022.

Sentenced to Young Offender Institution

Dhadda was sentenced to serve time in a young offender institution. Detective Constable Hazel Edgar-Nevill condemned the violent act:

“Carrying a screwdriver for violent means is completely unacceptable, especially when it’s used to inflict serious injuries like in this case. The victim is lucky to be alive—if not for a brave member of the public, the outcome could have been far worse.”

DC Edgar-Nevill added that Dhadda had no previous convictions and hopes the sentence will serve as a wake-up call to prevent further violence.
