Westbury Man Jailed for Nearly Five Years Over Teen Sexual Assault

A 47-year-old Westbury man has been locked up for almost five years after admitting to sexually assaulting a teenage girl. John Goble, from Castle View, pleaded guilty last month to three charges of sexual assault by penetration.

Judge Hands Down 4 Years 8 Months Sentence

Yesterday (28/10), Swindon Crown Court sentenced Goble to 4 years and 8 months behind bars. The abuse took place in May 2019 at his home.

Lifetime Sex Offender Registration & Restrictions

Besides prison time, Goble must comply with a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery

Detective Constable Emma Cook said: “I am really pleased with this result as is the victim. I want to thank her for her bravery in reporting it initially and throughout the investigation. I hope this can now give her some closure.”
