Train Terror Rage: Woman Jailed for Threats and Hate on Reading Service

Disgraceful Outburst on Board

Trisha Clifton, 49, from Firlands, Weybridge, has been slammed by the courts after a shocking hate-fuelled episode on a train to Reading. On April 1, Clifton lost her temper when asked for her ticket, stripping off various clothes and dumping them beside passengers she then branded “terrorists.”

She didn’t stop there. The furious woman threatened the train manager, warning, “don’t make me get my two handguns out.” She followed up with a chilling call to “kill all the Muslims,” miming shooting gestures as fellow travellers looked on in horror.

Swift Justice at Reading Magistrates’ Court

Police met the train at Reading station and found no firearms after a thorough search, but detained Clifton immediately for questioning. On April 4, she pleaded guilty to religiously aggravated behaviour under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, as well as breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.

The court handed down a 26-week prison sentence, making it clear such hate crimes won’t be tolerated on the rail network.

Police Crackdown on Hate Crime

BTP Sergeant James Smith said: “Clifton’s disgusting and unprovoked actions on the train were completely unacceptable. We take hate crime extremely seriously. Targeting someone because of who they are or making them feel unsafe won’t be tolerated anywhere on the rail network. I thank the courts for this sentence and hope it makes her reflect on her behaviour.”
