Chaos on the M4: Police Chase High-Speed Escapade
On August 1, Sgt Will Ayres spotted Al Ali speeding over 100mph near swindon/" title="Swindon" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Swindon during routine checks. When ordered to stop, Ali slammed down the accelerator, hurtling along the hard shoulder at nearly 150mph. He weaved dangerously, overtaking multiple vehicles—including heavy goods trucks—and kicked up a cloud of dust that blinded other drivers.
Multiple Offences Uncovered After Arrest
Al Ali ditched the motorway at junction 17 but was caught and arrested in Kington Langley. The charges stacked up: dangerous driving, no driving licence, no insurance, possession of a class B drug, and refusing a specimen for analysis.
Sgt Ayres blasted the driver’s reckless behaviour: “Ali’s driving was completely unacceptable and put many lives at risk. Driving at over twice the speed limit on the hard shoulder, undertaking huge lorries, and causing poor visibility could have led to a catastrophic crash. On top of that, he was uninsured, unlicensed, and tested positive for cannabis.”
