Control Freak Daniel Cooper Jailed for Merciless Abuse
Relentless Abuse and Isolation
Between November 2019 and January 2021, Daniel Cooper subjected his victim to nonstop mental and emotional torment. He controlled every inch of her life, cutting her off from friends and family. Cooper even took her keys to trap her at home, stopping her from using her car or attending social events.
When she wasn’t with him, the victim was bombarded with calls and texts demanding to know her whereabouts and companions. The abuse wasn’t just psychological – Cooper forced her to eat against her will, punched and slapped her, put her in a headlock, dragged her by the hair, and threatened to kill her if she ever tried to leave.
Court Sentence for Essex Man
Aged 25 and hailing from Essex, Cooper faced Maidstone Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship. He also admitted assault charges linked to another woman. Three additional assault charges were left to lie on file.
Cooper was sentenced to 22 months behind bars, on top of nearly six months already spent in custody awaiting sentencing.
Police and Victim Support Urge Action
“Cooper is a violent and aggressive bully who made the victim’s life a misery,” said PC Nestor Dgebuadze. “He used fear, violence, and intimidation to control every part of her life. I’m glad the court has issued a custodial sentence to give the victim space to break free and move on.”
