Crime Squad Smashes High-Harm Offenders Across Kent

The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad is turning Kent into a no-go zone for violent criminals and burglars. Since launching in February 2019, the elite team has racked up a staggering 866 years behind bars for offenders who terrorise innocent members of the public and local businesses.

Nearly 500 Years of Prison Time in Just One Year

In the past 12 months alone, the Crime Squad has secured 489 years in prison sentences. Detective Inspector Darren Reynolds, who leads the unit, said: “We’re focused on taking down offenders who cause massive harm – people who break into homes or use violence to steal. We’re making Kent a tough place for them to operate.”

D.I. Reynolds added: “We’ve taken off the streets those who thought they were too clever to catch. Not only does this improve community safety, it shows our commitment to victims, who are always our priority.”

Arrests, Charges & Big Wins Across Kent

  • The Crime Squad has issued almost 1,900 charges and made 610 arrests since 2019.
  • Last year alone, officers made 830 charges and 295 arrests.
  • A notorious burglary gang who operated across Maidstone, Whitstable, Canterbury, Tonbridge, Medway and Sevenoaks were jailed for a combined 23 years.
  • A knife-point robber who stole more than £10,500 from amusement centres in Gillingham, Romford and Welling is now behind bars for seven years, caught just two days after his latest crime.
  • In Medway, a car thief who travelled from outside Kent was caught within minutes after stealing a vehicle from Twydall. He’s serving 3½ years.
  • Four men posing as police officers to raid a gated home in Ide Hill were locked up for a total of 12 years.
  • Two men convicted of non-recent sexual offences received jail times adding up to 19 years.
  • A cunning shoplifter who targeted 14 stores across Kent and stole over £100,000 worth of mobile phones and jewellery was jailed for 4½ years.

Relentless Pursuit of Justice

D.I. Reynolds revealed the squad’s tactics: “We gather fresh intel daily, work closely with neighbouring forces, go undercover, and get warrants to strike offenders at home. We’re improving our service to Kent’s people all the time.”

The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad is clearly making Kent a safer place—one lockup at a time.
