Armed Thug Terrifies Swanley Pizza Shop Staff

Karl Kaynar, 42, made a chilling entrance at a Swanley pizza shop on March 23 last year. Waving what looked like a gun, he snarled, “Do you want to die?” before grabbing £400 from the till and fleeing.

Violence Escalates at Asda Petrol Station

The very next morning, Kaynar struck again just down the road at an Asda petrol station. Armed with a knife and a broken paving slab, he threatened staff and stole thousands of pounds.

He even threatened to throw acid in a victim’s face if they didn’t comply.

Kent Police Nab Armed Robbery Criminal

Police tracked Kaynar down and arrested him the same day. Searches uncovered the ‘gun’—actually an air weapon made to look real—and a knife hidden at a Swanley address linked to him.

Thug Gets Nine Years for Fearsome Crime Spree

Kaynar, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to two counts of robbery, possessing an imitation firearm, carrying a knife in public, plus additional theft, drug offences, and a separate armed robbery investigated by the Met Police.

Yesterday (October 22), he was sentenced to nine years and four months behind bars. He had already spent 18 months on remand and must serve an extra 86 days for breaching a suspended sentence. On release, Kaynar faces a four-year licence period.

Det Const Rosie Acton, Kent Police, said: “Kaynar’s actions left his victims in genuine fear for their lives. The gun he used looked very real, even if it wasn’t genuine.

He held a kitchen knife to a shop assistant’s back and made chilling acid threats. Had we not caught him quickly, he would have targeted more victims.

I hope his lengthy sentence reassures those living and working in Swanley.”
