Stalker Sentenced: Grant Hodnett Jailed for 18 Months

Grant Hodnett, 41, from Birch Close, Rixton-on-Glazebrook, has been locked up for 18 months after stalking two women and breaching a restraining order. The Liverpool Crown Court handed down the sentence on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Harassment Nightmare Begins

Hodnett’s stalking started in June 2023 when he struck up a relationship with his first victim. Just three months later, the romance ended—and the real torment began. He bombarded her with emails, texts and calls. Worse still, he used her personal details to sign her up for unwanted services, including newsletters, cigarette firms, alcohol charities, and therapy sessions. The victim was even labelled a “highfalutin person” and a “habitual liar” in his twisted messages.

Targeting Friends and Breaking Restraining Orders

Hodnett didn’t stop at just one victim. He also harassed her friends by contacting them, weaving a disturbing web of stalking. Cops traced these fake subscriptions back to Hodnett’s home. He made anonymous calls from withheld numbers, continuing his campaign of terror.

His criminal record reveals a dark history. He was convicted of stalking another woman in September 2020. Despite an indefinite restraining order banning him from Stockton Heath, he brazenly appeared on London Road there on November 1, 2023.

Police Probe and Evidence Concealment

The Constabulary’s Harm Reduction Unit (HRU) launched a thorough investigation. Hodnett was arrested twice. On the first arrest, he tried to hide his mobile phone, laptop, and tablet before finally surrendering to the cops.

Justice is served, but the scars of Hodnett’s stalking spree remain fresh for his victims. The court’s 18-month sentence sends a stark message to those who think they can romp roughshod over others’ lives.
