Man Arrested for Murder After Fatal Pub Brawl in Chichester

Violent Assault at The Dolphin and Anchor

A 57-year-old man from South Yorkshire died following a savage attack at The Dolphin and Anchor pub on West Street, Chichester, last Thursday night. Police were called at around 11pm after reports of a serious assault. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the victim suffered fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspects in Custody and Ongoing Investigation

Kieran Egan, 30, of Baldmoor Lake Road, Birmingham, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. He remains in police custody and is due to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 24.

A 42-year-old man from County Durham was also arrested on suspicion of affray but has since been released on conditional bail. Police have named a third suspect and are actively seeking his arrest.

Police Appeal to Public for Crucial Information

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Joseph of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team offered condolences to the victim’s family, saying: “Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the victim in this investigation, who has lost his life in such tragic circumstances.”
