Brighton Man Busted for Breaching Sexual Risk Order
A Brighton man has landed in hot water after flouting a court order designed to protect vulnerable women.
Zahedian Breaks Strict Sexual Risk Order
Abdul Zahedian, 63, of Alfriston Close, Brighton, was slapped with a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) in July. The order put tight restrictions on his contact with vulnerable women to shield the public from harm.
One key condition banned Zahedian from contacting any vulnerable woman identified by official agencies without explicit permission from social services or police.
Caught Red-Handed at Bus Stop
Come September 22, police got tipped off that Zahedian was chatting up a vulnerable woman at a bus stop on Oriental Place, Brighton. He was swiftly arrested and charged with breaching his SRO.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on September 29, Zahedian pleaded guilty. He was released on strict new conditions but must return to court on Wednesday, October 19 for sentencing.
What Zahedian Is Banned From
His nationwide two-year Sexual Risk Order bans him from:
- Contacting or communicating with any vulnerable female recognised by a statutory agency without prior approval, except in unavoidable or inadvertent situations.
- Approaching or contacting a specific named woman.
- Driving without notifying police of his vehicle details (make, model, registration).
- Inviting any vulnerable woman into his vehicle or one he controls.
- Communicating sexually with any vulnerable woman unless it’s part of a professional, vocational, or educational role.
Police remain vigilant to ensure Zahedian sticks to these tough conditions and keeps vulnerable women safe.
