Brighton Man Jailed for Seven Years Over Horrific Child Sex Abuse
A 31-year-old man from Brighton has been handed a seven-year prison sentence for sexually abusing three girls over several years, with offences starting when he was just 10 years old.
James Quinto, from Kingswood Street, Brighton, carried out the abuse between the early 2000s and 2010. His victims were aged between seven and 18 at the time.
Shocking Abuse Spanning Years
The case broke in 2021 after one brave survivor came forward. She revealed that two other girls she knew had also suffered similar horrific abuse, including repeated child rape.
Convicted on Multiple Charges
After a thorough police investigation, Quinto was arrested and charged with historic child sexual offences. At Lewes Crown Court on 25 March, he was convicted of:
- Six counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl
- Two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching
- One count of assault by penetration
- One count of sexual assault
He was found not guilty of rape and two other counts of assault by touching.
On Tuesday, 17 June 2025, Quinto was sentenced to seven years behind bars.
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery
Detective Constable Hannah Elmer of Sussex Police said: “James Quinto’s victims have grown up with the trauma of his crimes, each having to come to terms with their experiences in their own way. They have shown incredible strength and determination to report him and support this investigation. Thanks to their courage, he has finally faced justice.”
