Mild Scratches Can Carry Deadly Risks

Experts warn that rabies symptoms can take days, weeks, or even months to appear. These include tingling or numbness at the bite or scratch site, trouble swallowing, breathing, or speaking, paralysis, hallucinations, and severe anxiety.
Once symptoms hit, rabies is almost always fatal. However, post-exposure treatment can prevent death if given early enough.
