Stalker Slapped with Suspended Jail Term in Canterbury
A man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to stalking two people, leaving them in serious distress.
Ovisyonairo II Caught and Convicted
Ii Ovisyonairo II, 37, of North Stream, Marshside, Canterbury, pleaded guilty on 4 June 2020 to two counts of stalking causing serious alarm and distress.
He was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday 23 October to 24 months in jail—suspended for two years.
Strict Licence Conditions and Restraining Order
His Honour Judge Lucas QC imposed tough conditions including:
- Electronic curfew at an address outside London
- 50 hours of rehabilitation, including psychological counselling by the Stalking Threat and Assessment Centre
- GPS monitoring for 12 months
- Travel restriction within 20 miles of his new home for 12 months
- Up to 300 hours of unpaid work
An indefinite restraining order prevents him from contacting the victims directly or indirectly.
Police Praise Investigation Efforts
Detectives responded after the victims reported the stalking. Ovisyonairo was arrested by the North Area Command Unit and charged on 3 March.
He appeared before Highbury Corner Magistrates Court the same day and has been in custody since.
Detective Inspector Paul Ridley said: “This sentencing reflects a focused investigation to protect the victims and ensure justice. The judge acknowledged the offender’s calculated and deeply disturbing behaviour.
“We’re pleased the defendant admitted his actions. The victims now ask for their privacy to be respected.”
