Snodland Couple Locked Up After Brutal Attack on 60-Year-Old Woman
A violent pair from Snodland have been jailed for savagely attacking a 60-year-old woman, leaving her with serious injuries including a fractured breastbone.
Attack at Engagement Party Ends in Hospital
Greg Toole, 33, and Maria Toole, 32, both of Amisse Drive, Snodland, were involved in a nasty brawl at a Holborough Road venue on 18 January 2017. The trouble kicked off during an engagement party when the victim tried to leave with friends.
After the victim got into a taxi, Maria Toole chased her down, dragged her to the ground, punched her repeatedly, and yanked her by the hair. Greg Toole joined in, kicking and stamping on her chest while she lay helpless.
Serious Injuries and Swift Justice
A relative intervened, helping the victim back into the taxi and rushing her to hospital. Doctors diagnosed fractures to her sternum, neck, and spine—injuries that will affect her for life.
The Tooles were arrested two days later and charged with grievous bodily harm. Despite pleading not guilty, a jury found them guilty at Maidstone Crown Court.
Three Years Each Behind Bars
On 4 July 2018, both were sentenced to three years in prison.
Detective Constable Shelley Rainer said: “This was a truly brutal attack, so savage and sustained that the victim feared for her life. These appalling injuries will undoubtedly affect her for the rest of her life. There can never be any justification for this level of violence, especially over a trivial disagreement. Maria and Greg Toole are now rightly facing the consequences.”
