Burglars Nabbed After Failing to Steal a Thing in Currys Raid
Two men broke into Currys PC World in Hove but made off with nothing. Now, they’ve been jailed for a combined four years.
Raid Gone Wrong at Currys in Hove
Around 4am on 2 August, police were called to Currys PC World on Old Shoreham Road. Officers found a big hole smashed in the back of the store. The burglars had forced their way in and wreaked havoc in several stock rooms. But despite their efforts, they left empty handed.
High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest
Police tracked down the suspects in an Audi on the A23 north of Brighton. The two men were wearing the exact clothes seen during the break-in. Inside the car, police found a drill, gloves, bags, and a head torch – the perfect toolkit for a bungled burglary.
Justice Served at Lewes Crown Court
Aurelian Gheorghe, 41, with no fixed address, and Andrei Metea, 22, from London, were charged with burglary with intent to steal. On 7 October, both were each handed 24 months behind bars.
