Two notorious thieves locked up within 24 hours after raiding Dartford Co-op!
Debbie Neagle, 35, and Tafadzwa Chinhoyi, 40, both homeless, didn’t get far after swiping a haul of goods from the Co-op in Oldfield Place.
The duo were jailed on Saturday 19 July at Medway Magistrates’ Court after admitting multiple thefts committed the previous day.
Shoplift Squad in Action
The pair hatched their plan on Friday 18 July. Neagle hit the meat aisle, stuffing her rucksack with stolen meat, energy drinks, toiletries, and cleaning products. Meanwhile, Chinhoyi grabbed a basket and plastic bags to scoop up more items.
They regrouped to bulk up their haul before trying to make a getaway. Neagle slipped out unnoticed, but Chinhoyi was caught red-handed by alert staff trying to flee with two full bags.
Fast Police Response Leads to Arrest
Police were called immediately. Neighbourhood officers acted fast, tracking down and arresting both suspects nearby.
- Neagle got slammed with 112 days behind bars.
- Chinhoyi was jailed for 70 days.
- Both must also pay compensation to the Co-op.
Police Warn: Crime Doesn’t Pay
Inspector Lee Cheesman of Kent Police warned: “Our officers patrol town centres regularly and swiftly respond to shoplifting reports. They usually know the suspects and don’t hesitate to track them down. Persistent offenders will be charged and face magistrates without delay.”
