Kent Crime Squad Locks Up Burglars and Thieves for Over 29 Years in One Month!
Record-Busting Prison Time for Kent Offenders
Kent’s elite Crime Squad and uniformed officers have been on a roll. In one month alone, they racked up a whopping 29 years and seven months behind bars for crooks. Since February 2021, these tough cops have locked up criminals for a staggering total of more than 268 years.
They also made 22 fresh arrests and got the green light to charge 41 more suspects.
Detective Chief Inspector Praises Team’s Tough Tackles
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys, who leads the team, said: “Burglary hits victims hard. Many of the stolen items, like jewellery, carry deep sentimental value, sometimes passed down through generations.”
He added: “Our squad is determined to provide the best service possible and hold criminals accountable. We’ve seen fantastic results and won’t slow down. Kent will be no playground for these offenders.”
Notorious Thieves Behind Bars
- A crafty distraction thief was jailed for over six years after burgling five elderly victims in Canterbury and Faversham. He tricked his way into homes claiming to be a smoke alarm technician and stole cash plus sentimental jewellery — including a ring from a victim’s late husband.
- Two prolific car thieves who stole nine vehicles across Folkestone, Hythe, and surrounding areas were handed more than eight years between them. CCTV and phone data nailed their identities, with one caught red-handed driving a stolen Skoda.
- Two knifepoint robbers terrorised three Sheerness homes, stealing around £200 and a moped. Thanks to forensic work, both men are now serving 10+ years in prison.
New Charges Keep Coming
The Crime Squad isn’t stopping. They’ve charged multiple suspects with burglary and robbery, including:
- A man accused of trying to rob staff at an industrial unit in Rochester.
- A Liverpool man linked to burglaries in Deal.
- Two suspects charged with assaulting an elderly woman during a Swanscombe burglary.
- A Norfolk man allegedly involved in stealing high-value cars around West Malling and Swanley.
All remain in custody awaiting court.
Protect Your Home: DCI Talboys’ Top Tips
“Kent Police has the muscle and know-how to catch criminals and deliver justice,” said DCI Talboys.
He urged homeowners to take precautions to deter thieves:
- Always lock doors and windows when leaving.
- Keep valuables out of sight.
- Use timer switches on lights and radios to make your home look occupied.
Stay vigilant — and make life harder for crooks prowling Kent’s streets.
