Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Moped Crash in South London

Tragedy struck on Kennington Lane early Thursday morning when an 82-year-old man was hit by a moped at the junction with Kennington Road, SE11. Police were called at 8.50am and emergency services rushed to the scene.

Man Suffers Serious Head Injury

The victim was rushed to a south London hospital with a serious head injury. Despite doctors’ best efforts, he sadly passed away on Sunday, 15 May. His family has been notified.

Moped Rider Stops, No Arrest Made

The moped rider stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. No arrests have been made as officers continue their investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, alongside the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in Catford, are probing the circumstances surrounding the crash.

They urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can call 020 8285 1574.
