Tragic Hit-and-Run: Woman Killed by Moped on Busy West London Road

Police rushed to Talgarth Road, West London, after a moped smashed into a pedestrian just after 6pm on Tuesday, 16 January. The victim, 58-year-old Ina Rodrigues, was crossing the road near Gliddon Road when she was struck by the moped.

Moped Riders Flee Scene, Leaving Woman with Fatal Injuries

Emergency crews, including the London Ambulance Service, quickly arrived and rushed Ina to hospital. Despite heroic efforts, she died five days later on Sunday, 21 January. Her family, devastated and heartbroken, continue to receive support from specially trained officers.

The moped didn’t stop. CCTV captured the vehicle being abandoned a short distance from the crash. The rider and passenger then fled on foot, disappearing into the night.

Detective Sergeant Jim Hinchliffe from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Ina was a beloved sister, aunt, mother and friend. We urgently need help identifying the two people seen on CCTV. So far, enquiries have come up empty. If you recognise them or are those individuals, do the right thing. Contact us or Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Family’s Plea for Justice After Senseless Crash

Ina’s daughter spoke out, pleading for answers. She described her mum as “a beautiful, kind soul who loved life.”

She said, “Mum was on her way home from work when she was hit just eight minutes into her walk to the train station. The two on the moped fled immediately, leaving her injured on a busy road near Barons Court station. She was my last surviving parent and took on the role of mum and dad for me and my sister. I was supposed to give back to her.”

“My mum’s life was cruelly stolen from us. Six months on, I live with anxiety and grief because we still don’t know who’s responsible. Those two clearly showed no regard for human life and must be taken off the streets. Please, if you have any information, no matter how small, come forward. The west London community must help end this pain.”
