Man Charged With Murder After Deadly Maidstone Attack

Fatal Assault Rocks Maidstone

Detectives have charged a man with murder following a violent assault in Maidstone. Kent Police rushed to Bower Place at 6.38pm on Friday, 31 July 2020, after reports of two people being attacked.

A man in his 50s was airlifted to a London hospital but sadly died from his injuries.

Second Victim Injured

Another man, in his 30s, was also assaulted at the scene and received treatment for his injuries.

Two Arrests Made, Charges Filed

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder probe. Two men were arrested that same evening in connection with the attack.

On Sunday 2 August, the Crown Prosecution Service approved charges against Lance Colston, 36, of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, for murder and actual bodily harm.

Oliver Watts, 33, also from Tonbridge Road, faces charges of actual bodily harm.

Upcoming Court Appearance

Both men are in custody and will appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 August 2020.
