Notorious Murderer Derek Brown Dies Behind Bars at 64
Serial sex attacker and convicted murderer Derek Brown has died in custody aged 64. Brown was serving a life sentence with a minimum 30-year term at HMP Wakefield.
Convicted of Two Murders – Bodies Still Missing
Brown was found guilty in October 2008 of murdering 29-year-old DVD seller Xiao Mei Guo and 24-year-old sex worker Bonnie Barrett, both of whom disappeared in 2007. He denied killing them but admitted paying for sex with both women before their mysterious disappearances.
Police uncovered blood matching the victims in Brown’s Rotherhithe flat. Investigators also found a receipt for a bow saw, heavy-duty gloves, rubble sacks, and cleaning supplies – chilling evidence hinting at attempts to erase all traces of the women’s deaths.
Judge Slams Brown’s Cold-Hearted Attitude
“You murdered two women. Both were vulnerable, plying their trade on the streets… You disposed of their bodies with frightening efficiency so that not a trace of either woman has been found,” Judge Martin Stephens said at sentencing.
He condemned Brown for showing “not a sliver of remorse” and noted that only Brown knows where the remains are, leaving the families devastated and without closure.
Prison Service Confirms Death, Investigation Underway
A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed: “Derek Brown died in hospital on 29 September while serving a sentence at HMP Wakefield. As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate.”
The case remains hauntingly unresolved as the bodies of Xiao Mei Guo and Bonnie Barrett have never been found, continuing to haunt their loved ones and the police alike.
