Toddler Hit by Car in Liverpool – Driver Arrested

A three-year-old boy was hit by a car in Liverpool on Friday afternoon and is now in stable condition in hospital. The driver, a 47-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

Crash on Smithdown Road

The smash happened at around 3:30pm on Smithdown Road, near the Hartington Road junction. Police rushed to the scene and found the injured child. He was quickly taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital by ambulance, where he remains stable.

Driver in Custody

The driver, behind the wheel of a Skoda, stopped at the scene and was arrested. He is currently in police custody, helping with inquiries.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact us,” said a police spokesperson.

Road Reopened After Hours

Smithdown Road was closed for several hours while officers investigated, but has now reopened to traffic.
