Driver Critical After Horror Crash in South Norwood
A driver is fighting for life after a serious smash in South Norwood, South East London.
Crash Rocks Neighbourhood at 3am
Emergency crews rushed to Beulah Hill near Carlton Court around 3am on Monday. A neighbour, woken by the blast, said: “It was like a bomb going off. I was jolted awake and called the emergency services. The driver didn’t look too good.”
The car had veered off the road and smashed into a tree. Early reports suggested the vehicle caught fire.
Air Ambulance Called as Driver in Critical Condition
Doctors from the London Air Ambulance treated the seriously injured driver at the scene. The driver remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Bus Services Diverted, Road Shut for Investigations
The crash has caused major disruption to local bus routes 196, 249, 468, and the night bus N68, which are now diverted from South Norwood Hill. Authorities have closed the road both ways as police carry out investigations.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Out
Met Police officers at the scene are appealing for anyone who saw the collision to come forward. They said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call us on 101 and leave their details.”
