Firefighters Race to Tackle Chimney Blaze in Bembridge
A fire crew from Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue’s Sandown station rushed to a chimney fire on Love Lane, Bembridge, just after 7.15pm on Saturday evening.
Quick Response to Chimney Inferno
The team battled the flames using stirrup pumps and rods to douse the fire inside the chimney. They also employed a thermal imaging camera to ensure every ember was out cold.
Fire Service Warns: Don’t Let Your Chimney Turn Into a Firetrap
“Keeping your chimney clean and free from debris stops combustible build-ups that can spark fires,” said a spokesman from Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue.
“If your chimney hasn’t been used in a while, get it checked and cleaned. Summer months bring cobwebs, birds’ nests, or other blockages that could ignite. Plus, blocked flues can push deadly carbon monoxide back into your home.”
“Always fit a working carbon monoxide detector in any room with a solid fuel appliance.”
