Eastbourne in Shock as Beloved Mum Sabrina Cooper Found Murdered
Tragedy Strikes on Connaught Road
The Cooper family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Sabrina Cooper, 68, a devoted mother and grandmother from Eastbourne. Sabrina was found dead at her home on Connaught Road at around 6:45pm on Sunday, December 18, after concerns about her welfare sparked a police check.
Man Arrested and Charged
Tony King, 59, from Cornfield Terrace, Eastbourne, was quickly arrested and charged with Sabrina’s murder and possession of an offensive weapon in public. King, who knew Sabrina, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday, December 22, where he was remanded in custody.
He is due back on March 10 for a pre-trial hearing and to enter formal pleas. A provisional trial date has been set for June 19.
Family Tribute: A Life of Love and Courage
In a poignant statement to Sussex Police, Sabrina’s family paid tribute to her courage and kindness:
“On behalf of the family, we thank everyone who has shown support and love as this nightmare has unfolded. We also thank Sussex Police for their swift action.
“Sabrina battled health issues for the past two years but faced them bravely. She was recovering from a recent operation and eagerly anticipating a fresh start in a new home early next year.
“She wasn’t complicated. Sabrina cherished simple things—the love of her family, friends, and her beloved dogs, Abra and Tricks.
“Christmas was her favourite time. She took joy in early preparations, gift wrapping, decorating her house, and celebrating with loved ones.
“A dedicated mother, doting grandmother, and popular figure in Eastbourne, Sabrina loved walking her dogs and catching up with fellow dog walkers.
“Her loss is felt deeply. Like us, her dogs cannot understand what’s happened, waiting by the door for her return. We will miss sharing jokes, stories, and laughter with her forever.
“We are devastated and ask for privacy during this unimaginably difficult time.”
