Ex-Nursery Boss Charged Over Sick Child Abuse Image Probe
A former nursery manager from Surrey has been charged in a National Crime Agency (NCA) crackdown on online child abuse. Alison Whateley, 43, of Farnham, was arrested over a video conferencing platform used to share indecent images of children.
Whateley Worked at Four Nurseries Including Bushy Tails
Whateley was a senior manager at Bushy Tails Nursery in Teddington and also worked at Hampton Wick Nursery plus two now-closed nurseries in Teddington and Twickenham West. She was arrested on 26 September 2017 and granted conditional police bail after her arrest.
Following the charges, she was suspended and later sacked by her employer. Whateley appeared at Staines Magistrates Court and has been bailed to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 23 April.
Charges Linked to Online Child Sexual Abuse Imagery
The charges concern the sharing of indecent images online, but police have found no evidence that any images were taken on nursery premises or that Whateley had any sexual contact with children.
The investigation continues as the NCA, local authorities, and the nurseries work closely to tackle safeguarding concerns. Parents of children at the nurseries have been informed promptly.
