Man Charged with Murder After Maidstone Death
Murder Investigation Launched
Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of Jamie Simmons in Maidstone. Kent Police were called to a Cambridge Crescent property at 9.13pm on Monday, 4 May 2020. Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended but Mr Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Kieron Nicholson, 29, from East Farleigh, was arrested just 25 minutes later at 9.38pm. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate immediately took over the investigation. On Wednesday 6 May, the Crown Prosecution Service officially charged Nicholson with murder. He has since been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
Other Arrests Made
- A second 29-year-old man from Maidstone, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail and must return on 2 June.
- A woman in her 20s from Tonbridge, who was arrested in connection with the case, has been released pending further inquiries.
