Tyler, 17, gunned down in early morning horror

Tragic news out of Haringey after 17-year-old Tyler McDermott was shot dead on Norman Road, N15. Police were called just after 4.20am on Thursday, 13 April, responding to reports of a male suffering a gunshot wound.

Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene, finding Tyler critically injured. He was taken to hospital but sadly passed away the following afternoon, Friday 14 April.

Investigation launched as police hunt witnesses

The Specialist Crime Command has launched a full murder probe. No arrests have been made yet. A crime scene remains in place as detectives painstakingly gather evidence.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John said: “It is vital that we hear from anyone who was in the area of the shooting and saw or heard anything suspicious. We know a large group was present. Please do the right thing and come forward. We are waiting to speak with you.”

Police urge community to help stop violence

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, head of policing in Haringey, expressed sympathy for Tyler’s family, calling for community support. “You will continue to see an enhanced police presence,” she said. “I encourage local residents to talk with officers if they have any concerns. Together, we can tackle violence head on.”
