Wembley Manslaughter: Five Jailed Over Brutal Killing of Andrew Ballantyne
Gang Attack Ends in Tragedy
Asher Anderson, 35, from Walton Gardens, Wembley, was sentenced to nine years for the manslaughter of 55-year-old Andrew Ballantyne. He also received three months for common assault on the same night, served concurrently.
James Scott, 32, of Hawthorne Road, High Wycombe, got six years and three months for the same manslaughter charge. Both men pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court on 10 February.
Four Others Sentenced for Role in Attack
- Daniel Ramsey, 25, of Micklefield Road, High Wycombe, admitted violent disorder and was jailed for two years.
- Ramah Lampkin, 24, of Rowan Avenue, High Wycombe, also pleaded guilty to violent disorder and received two years and two months.
- Nickolas Williams, 26, from Gibbs Close, High Wycombe, was handed 18 months for violent disorder linked to Andrew’s death plus eight months for an earlier assault that same night. His sentences are consecutive.
Brutal Assault on Micklefield Road
On 31 July last year, police found Andrew Ballantyne collapsed on Micklefield Road. He had been attacked by a group of men. Officers began CPR immediately and paramedics arrived shortly after, but sadly Andrew was pronounced dead at the scene.
All five men were arrested and charged with his murder in August 2021.
Investigation and Police Statement
“This sad case highlights the brutal reality of group violence against vulnerable individuals,” said Detective Superintendent Kev Brown from Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit.
“Andrew was targeted by a group who knew him. They beat him, filmed the attack, and fled when police arrived. All five admitted to varying degrees of responsibility. Anderson and Williams also confessed to assaulting another man 40 minutes earlier when all five were present.”
“I thank Andrew’s family and friends for their courage during this difficult case. No family should endure such suffering. The convictions and sentences bring some justice for Andrew’s unlawful killing.”
