Man Set on Fire in Shocking Birmingham Attack

A man was doused with a flammable substance and set alight on Brixham Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, just after 7pm on Monday.

Attack Follows Mosque Visit

The victim was walking home from Dudley Road mosque when a stranger approached him. After a brief conversation, the attacker sprayed him with an unknown liquid before setting his jacket on fire. The flames caused burns to the man’s face.

He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, though police say his condition is not life-threatening.

Police Hunt Attacker Amid Viral Video

West Midlands Police are investigating and have confirmed they are reviewing a video circulating on social media that shows the horrific incident. Officers are combing through CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses as they race to identify the culprit.

“Our officers have been working through the night to establish what happened and who is responsible,” said Supt James Spencer.

“We know people are worried and want answers. We are determined to find the person responsible as soon as possible and urge the community to avoid speculation.”

Extra Police Presence to Reassure Locals
