Flying Squad Cracks Down on Delivery Van Robbers Ahead of Christmas
The Met is tackling a spike in delivery van robberies just before Christmas. Reports have surged as crooks target parcels loaded with festive goodies.
Snatch and Grab in Southall: Three Men Caught Red-Handed
On the morning of Thursday, 7 December, Flying Squad officers swooped on Southall after spotting three men threaten a delivery driver. One thug wielded a crowbar as they snatched parcels from the van.
Police recovered 10 stolen parcels valued at around £5,000. The trio were arrested on the spot and charged with robbery. They are due in court this afternoon.
Fighting Back: Met Vows to Protect Drivers and Customers
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather said: “Robberies involving delivery vans have risen recently, with some drivers even assaulted. Robbery hits victims hard, especially as Christmas orders flood in.
We’re pleased to have charged three suspects and will keep working hard to catch offenders.”
