Neighbourhood Predator Huseyin Berk Found Guilty of Sex Attacks on Young Girls
Huseyin Berk, 45, from Amhurst Park, Hackney, has been found guilty of multiple sexual assaults against two girls under 13. The verdict came down on Wednesday, 29 June, at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Horrific Abuse in Disused Garage
Berk was convicted of two counts of sexual assault by penetration involving one victim, and one count involving the other. The assaults took place between April and October 2018 after Berk lured the girls into an abandoned garage in the neighbourhood where he lived.
A relative alerted police in November 2018 after the children bravely disclosed the abuse.
Trusted Local Man Used Dog to Befriend Victims
Detective Constable Kevin Flynn explained: “Berk was known to the girls for a long time as he often walked his dog nearby while they played. He encouraged them to pet the dog, earning their trust before abusing them for his own gratification.”
The predator warned the girls that “bad things would happen” if they told anyone, intimidating them into silence.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage and Vow Tough Sentencing
Berk was arrested in November 2018 and charged in August 2021. He will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court in September.
“We have ensured these children received specialised care throughout this ordeal. Berk’s conviction is thanks to their bravery,” said DC Flynn. “The Met will always investigate sexual offences against children and fight for the harshest punishments. We encourage any victims to come forward.”
