East London Terror Offender Busted for Breaching Strict Post-Release Rules
Shah Rahman, 39, from East London, was snared by counter-terror cops on March 22, 2022. He’d broken strict rules slapped on him following his release from prison.
Back behind bars, further probes by the Counter Terrorism Command uncovered two more breaches of his licence terms. Rahman admitted to three violations of the Part 4 Notification Order under the Counter-Terrorism Act 2008.
Eight Months Jail for Flouting Post-Terror Release Laws
On Friday, June 10, Rahman was hit with an eight-month prison sentence.
“Rahman, like all offenders convicted of terrorism offences, are subject to strict conditions when they are released from prison,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Dominic Murphy of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
“These conditions are intended to reduce the likelihood of reoffending, and we 1 hard with our partners to manage these offenders in order to keep the public safe. When violations are discovered, we do not hesitate to investigate and bring them before the courts.”
History of Terror Convictions & Lifetime Monitoring
- Rahman was convicted in 2012 for conspiracy to cause explosions and prepping terrorist acts after a probe led by the West Midland Counter Terrorism Unit (WMCTU).
- He was found with materials useful for terrorism.
- He’s under a Part 4 Notification Order for 30 years, requiring him to inform police of any changes in his finances, email, vehicles, or personal circumstances.
Rahman’s latest breaches highlight ongoing risks posed by terror offenders post-release — and the need for tough monitoring to protect the public.
